Wellness and thermal bath
The thermal waters of Kehidakustány contain no radon, they are medicinal waters with calcium-magnesium-hydrogene-carbonate content. They belong to the sulphurous medicinal waters, because of their 2.4 mg/litre sulphide-content. They are very effective for preventing and cureing neural, gynaecological, dermathological and locomotorical diseases and problems. They also may play an important role in accidental rehabilitation, because these kind of waters significantly accelerate the recovering of fractures and injuries.
The medicinal effect of the waters in Kehidakustány is sciently proved.

Kehidakustány
Location:
Kehidakustány lies in the northern part of county Zala, in the valley of river Zala(on the western bank lies Kehida, on the eastern Kustány), 25 kms far from lake Balaton and Zalakaros, 10 kms far from the thermal bath of Hévíz. The quiet land and the 43°C thermal waters made the village an ideal place for holidays and for people recovering from their diseases. The wonderful landscape around the settlement also provides an ideal chance for tourism.
Origin of the name:
The label 'Kehidakustány' is a fusion of the name of villages 'Kehida' and 'Kustány'. Some linguists think the name 'Kehida' comes from the meaning of 'two bridges'(in Hungarian 'két híd')- here used to be two bridges over river Zala. Other scientists say the label 'Kehida' roots from the name 'ketőd', which meant the second-born male child in a family. 'Kustány' origins from an archaic Hungarian personal name.
Story of the village:
The first regular settlement on the current territory of Kehidakustány formed in the Bronze Age. Later, the land was inhabited by Celtic tribes. After the Celtics the Avars created a significant settlement here, the archeologists excavated two Avar cemeteries in the area.
The territory of the current settlement of Kehida was located in a central region of county Zala in the Middle Ages. It also had a strategic role because it was the southest village that was not a marshland. Therefore it developed a significant settlement in a very early time.
The first record is dated back to 1232, when the national noble court had a meeting here. The servients 'on this side and beyond' Zala passed sentence on the case of governor Ogusz and the bishop of Veszprém. Through the 13th and 14th centuries lots of certificates were released here. It also functioned as a place of county assemblies and governorial meetings. The greatest owners of the territory were the dynasties Koppányi and Kanizsai but the dynasties Hédervári and Kanizsai also disposed of some pieces of land.
In 1441 while struggling for the throne dynasty Kanizsai was beside queen consort Erzsébet, therefore Ulászló I. gave the right of the customs of Kehida to the dynasty Pethő. Meanwhile Ulászló made the dynasty Kanizsai stay on their previous estate. The dynasty Kanizsai piled up sizeable debt until 1523, so the village was passed over to the dynasty Hássági, who soon built a courtyard here.
Similarly to Kehida, Kustány became a royal land in the Middle Ages. The first record is dated back to 1275, then in 1411 Csapi András got this territory. However, his power weakened, his settlement fell into three pieces.( Alsó,- Felső,- and -Egyházaskustány became the properties of different dynasties.).
In the 16th century the Osman Turkish attacks were going on and on, so the landlords strengthened their courtyards with fortifications and later these buildings were converted into significant fortresses. They functioned successfully until 1588, when the Osmans robbed throughout Zala-valley, bending Kanizsa. Kehida also became a victim of these crusades, it finally collapsed.
The two villages slowly got populated in the 17th century. Though the Osman Empire regularly raided over the territory, Kehida showed some slow development. Kustány owned a mill over river Zala and after 1678 customs, as well. In 1681 the dynasty Hertelédy became the landlord of the village. While their reign Kehida could be turned into a significant settlement again. At the beginning of the 18th century a school came into operation.
By a marriage, in 1757 the settlement became the property of dynasty Deák and it remained in their ownership till its selling in 1854. Deák Ferenc sold it to Széchenyi Ödön, who passed it over to the banker family Beronyi. They finally sold it to the dynasty Károlyi.
After the Balatonszentgyörgy-Zalaszentgrót railway line began to function in 1895, a serious process of achieving middle-class status began in Kehida: loads of trade-men and craftsmen settled to the village. In 1924 an agricultural secondary school opened on the partly divided Károlyi-estate. It was the only village-secondary school operating in the area.
The two settlements were united in 1977. The prosperous development of Kehidakustány was gained by building of a thermal bath, by which a significant tourism and catering net could be emerged in the 90's and present days, as well.
